Retro (1935-1950)
The jewelry designs of this period were bold and heavy and in rich palettes of golds-pink, yellow, peach, white, and green. Against the backdrop of war, the jewelry became playful, oversized and daring. The pieces from this period are fun and striking. They were frequently set with diamonds, rubies, multi-color precious stones, large amethysts, citrines, and aquamarines. Heavy, large geometric link bracelets were very popular. They were often made in two-toned gold and in 18K and 14K.
